Michelle Obama has taken on as her signature work while in the White House, nutrition and childhood obesity. Not to be outdone, a couple in Meridian, Idaho have are also doing their part in the fight against overweight childern. Amy and John Hobbing are the first operators of H.U.M.A.N. Healthy Vending machines in the state.

The two Idaho entrepreneurs not only care about their kids' health, they are also concerned about declining student academic performance. They see the two elements as part of a nationwide problem affecting youth. They have recently partnered with the Boys & Girls Club of Ada County, Idaho and placed these special vending machines in two club locations.

The Hobbing's vending machines give Idaho youth access to a variety of healthy, tasty and affordable snacks and beverages. The director of the Ada County Boys & Girls Club believes they have an obligation to help kids make better choices. Offering nothing but poor nutritional choices decreases the Boys & Girls Club's credibility.

H.U.M.A.N. healthy vending machines have LCD screens that display nutritional information and health tips at the point of sale. The Boys & Girls Clubs in Ada County are the first of more than 4,000 facilities to add the H.U.M.A.N. healthy vending machines that support innovative nutritional programs and increase awareness of obesity.

The Hobbings are asking parents and community leaders to not wait for federal or state legislation to mandate healthier programs. Rather, they are stepping up and creating proactive, positive change. The couple decided to start their healthy vending business as a way to demonstrate their commitment to making kids and adults healthier.

Over the next few months, Amy and John plan to announce more partnerships with other organizations and businesses for the H.U.M.A.N. healthy vending machines. They already have an agreement for an Idaho school district to implement their machines exclusively.

If your organization or company is interested in promoting a healthier lifestyle, more information is available on the H.U.M.A.N. Healthy Vending website.
