After much contemplation, I have decided to put up a new business again, the first of the many plans to penetrate the business world one more time. At first I was thinking of franchising an already established marque, but realized it would be better to create something I can completely call my own. This time, I decided to start with a smaller business that needs smaller capital. Something that needs not much of my attention, something that can function with very minimal resources. I came with the idea of a digital printing shop for photo and text printing, invitations, business cards, greeting cards, tarpaulins, streamers. The business is still in its first phase, and I am yet to buy tarpaulin printers, so at the moment streamers and tarp orders are forwarded to a friend who has the same business. Setting up a digital printing business is quite easy, specially if you have above average computer skills. You can employ yourself. The shop can run even with a single personnel. All you need to start the business is at least two reliable photo printer with continuous ink system capable of printing at least A4 or A6 size documents (preferably Epson), rims of bond papers, about the same amount of high quality photo papers, at least two computers with huge displays, a dependable photo printing studio client (I use a licensed FotoSlate 4.0), and a nice location. If you have Photoshop skills, you can create templates for invitation cards for weddings, birthdays, anniversaries et al where your customers can choose from. When all are good, I also plan to offer T-shirt printing, then to mass producing advertising materials. And so on. Who knows, it might even turn into a dedicated publishing house.
